ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani during a meeting with Acting President Farooq H Naek said democracy had grown strong enough to withstand any kind of pressure, Geo News reported.
The Prime Minister asserted the government had the strength to counter any political stunt.
Refering to the memogate scandal, PM Gilani said the issue was raised by Mansoor Ijaz, 'who is a foreigner and whose past full of conspiracies to malign the state institutions'.
The Premier said the opponents who wanted to take advantage of the prevailing circumstances would gain nothing. "Those who preferred a back-door channel will only end up facing frustration," he added.
Farooq H Naek, Speaker Senate, assumed the charge of Acting President after President Asif Ali Zardari had left for Dubai to get a medical treatment.
