Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan has consulted with the medical team looking after celebrated veteran comedian and actor Umer Sharif, said Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday.

The minister said that the process of consultations between Dr Sultan and the medical team will continue today.

He said that the real challenge for the medical team is to find out how to make travel possible for Sharif given the fragile state he is in. Sharif is suffering from a heart ailment, of which not much has been disclosed.

“Umer Sharif is our asset. [The government] will do its best to facilitate his treatment,” Chaudhry said.

Board to decide whether to send Sharif abroad 

The federal government had announced yesterday that a medical board has been formed for the treatment of Sharif.

The board has been tasked to decide whether or not to send the actor abroad for treatment.

Sharif requests PM to facilitate travel abroad

The TV personality had requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to facilitate his treatment.

The appeal was shared by news anchor Waseem Badami on his Instagram this Thursday.

Sharif said in his message that he has been advised to seek treatment abroad.
