Riaz demands Shahbaz's resignation
LAHORE: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz Ahmed Thursday demanded immediate resignation from the chief minister on his dereliction in Punjab Institute of Cardiology episode.

"Dozens of people have fallen victim to spurious medicines and Shahbaz Sharif instead of suspending heath department officers, should step down voluntarily," he said.

Talking to the mediamen outside the Punjab Assembly here on Wednesday, he held the chief minister responsible for deaths of heart patients due to substandard medicine. He urged the court to take suo motu notice of this medicine related incident and the real culprits should be taken to task. He was of the claim that case against supplier companies of substandard medicines could not be registered. He also asked for cases against drug inspectors.

To a question, Raja Riaz said, opposition fully opposed to a resolution passed by the House regarding ban on musical concerts in Punjab. He said, people have the right to enjoy music. He hinted at to move a counter resolution in the House.

Flaying the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, the opposition leader observed that the province had turned in to a problematic den where hardened criminals were roaming freely in streets while law abiding citizens had been left at their mercy.

He slammed provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan for his irresponsible statements saying he was the only minister who can not seeing mounting crime rate in the province and beating the drum as saying 'all is well'. (APP)
