PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh President Shahi Syed on Wednesday demanded an operation against illegal weapons in Karachi and holding of transparent elections in the metropolitan.
Speaking as a guest in a programme here at Press Club, he said the ANP has no enmity with Urdu speaking people or any body else.
Syed said carrying a weapon is a tradition of Pushtuns but they are ready to do away with it for peace and prosperity.
The ANP has always fought for the rights of Pushtuns to stop discrimination against them, he added.
He proposed an indiscriminate operation against criminals and constitution of peace committees at police station level for a long lasting peace in Karachi.
He expressed gratitude to the party leadership for giving him Senate ticket and added that he would continue to raise voice for the rights of Pushtuns. (APP)
