KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on the occasion of Pakistan Day — March 23 — a notification from the services, general administration, and coordination department said Wednesday.

"The Government of Sindh declares 23 March 2022, as a public holiday on the occasion of 'Pakistan Day' throughout the province, except essential services and those engaged in prevention and control of COVID-19 emergency," the notification said.

The day is marked to commemorate the historic "Lahore Resolution" passed on March 23, 1940, that eventually led to the creation of Pakistan within seven years of its adaptation on August 14, 1947.

The youth, every year, decorate their vehicles, motorcycles, cars and motorbikes while residents adorn their houses, bazaars and markets with flags and lights to express their love for the country.
