For those navigating the single life, looking to find love is intertwined with the geography of their city, as revealed by a recent report from WalletHub, a personal finance website.

Analysing over 182 US cities across 35 key indicators of dating-friendliness, the report sheds light on the best and worst cities for singles.

Cassandra Happe, an analyst at WalletHub, emphasises the impact of location on one's love life, stating, "If a city has a high population of singles and is packed with activities that you’ll enjoy, then you’ll have a better chance to meet someone with similar interests and can go on higher-quality dates."

Seattle, WA, emerged as the crowned jewel for singles, boasting a vibrant dating scene with numerous attractions, restaurants, social clubs, and venues like the iconic Space Needle, parks, and beaches. Despite a high median annual household income of $70,308, Seattle falls on the costlier side for dates and activities.

Contrary to the romantic allure often associated with the city, New York City took a surprising dip in the rankings, securing the 144th spot out of 182 overall.

NYC lagged in economic rankings, claiming the last position, and ranked 167th for dating opportunities. However, it showcased strength in the realm of fun and recreation, securing the third spot.

The study considered three key dimensions – economics, fun and recreation, and dating opportunities – recognising the unique dating scenes in different cities.
