Did OJ Simpson ever confess to murders?

A family source has recently put to rest rumours of a "deathbed confession" by Orenthal James (OJ) Simpson while giving an update about the athlete's final moments before his death earlier this week. 

The former US football icon's family released an emotional statement on social media on Wednesday, confirming the athlete's death after a battle with cancer and requesting privacy, OK reported.

Simpson, a former Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers star, was charged with the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994, after a stabbing outside her LA residence.

There has been speculation that Simpson may have confessed to the murders to his family before his death but according to TMZ, he made no admissions regarding the infamous murders. 

A source said that there were no confessions or mentions of Nicole or Ron, saying: "Unless being thirsty and asking for water is a confession... or wanting to watch the golf tournament. Nothing about the LA thing came up or was even thought about."

Simpson's eight-month-long trial made history as the first live televised trial in the US, attracting 100 million viewers and making headlines worldwide.

He was declared not guilty in early October 1995.

Sources claimed that anyone visiting the athlete in the days leading up to his death had to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDA) including all family members, friends, and medical staff.

Simpson's two youngest children, whom he shared with Nicole, were reportedly also by his side during his final moments.
