MPs degree verification: ECP deadline ends

ISLAMABAD: The degrees of only 27 out of 249 MPs have been verified as Election Commission’s deadline ended on Friday.

The ECP on February 7 had set up 15-day deadline for the 249 parliamentarians to get their degrees verified from the High Education Commission. It had said that their degrees would be considered fake if the parliamentarians didn’t respond to the ECP decision.

Sources told Geo News that as many as 40 members of parliament responded positively and approached the HEC for the verification process. According to sources, degrees of 27 lawmakers, including Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Humayun Saifullah Khan, Mehreen Razaq Bhutto, Begam Nasim Akhtar Chaudhry, Muhammad Tariq Khattak, Jameela Gilani, Bushra Rehman and Engineer Usman.
