Kensington and Buckingham Palaces have not released a formal statement after reports a suspect was arrested after breaking into the grounds of Windsor Castle.

According to a report by the New Idea, Prince William and Kate Middleton have been left shaken following an attempted break-in at their Windsor Castle home.

The People quoted the Metropolitan Police sharing more details in a statement.

The police statement says, "A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of trespass on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs after entering private grounds at Windsor Castle.

"Officers in the grounds spotted the man just after 13:00hrs on Sunday, 1 June and quickly arrested him. He was then passed into the custody of Thames Valley Police."

The publication further reported it remains unclear if any members of the royal family were at the royal residence at the time of the incident.

The future king and queen notably live on the grounds of Windsor Castle at Adelaide Cottage within Windsor Great Park with their kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Neither Kensington Palace, the office of Kate Middleton and Prince William, nor Buckingham Palace has released a formal statement in relation to either security incident.
