Mishap with Princess Anne causes delay as King Charles leads procession

King Charles-led Ascot royal precession has to face delay after Princess Anne's carriage broke down on Tuesday, reported GB news citing  sources. 

The report said that the sister of the monarch with her son Peter Phillips and his girlfriend Harriet Sperling at Royal Ascot.

Referring to a well-placed source, the publication reported that the second carriage in the royal procession carrying the Princess Royal “broke down”.

 “The Royal Grooms sprang into action to fix the harness, and after a delay of a few minutes, the carriage was back in action on its way to Ascot,” the source was quoted as having told the media outlet.

It said that the carriage procession was delayed by about five minutes due to the malfunction.

The report said that the king waited for his younger sister's carriage before proceeding.

The royal procession was greeted by the school children who were lined up prior to the delay.

The front horse of the carriage remained slightly angled when the vehicle got underway.

The King and Queen led the ceremonial procession in the first carriage, accompanied by Prince Faisal bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia's Royal Family and Lady Sarah Keswick, the Queen's closest companion.

Duchess Sophie also attended the races, though she did not participate in the formal carriage procession.

Earlier the royal family shared an Instagram post saying "At 2pm, The Royal Family parade along the track in front of racegoers in carriages."
