King Charles has held an Investiture ceremony at the Palace of Holyroodhouse after the monarch arrived in Scotland on Tuesday.
The palace shared photos from the ceremony on social media handles.
“At the Palace of Holyroodhouse, His Majesty The King held an Investiture ceremony, honouring remarkable individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their communities and the nation,” the photos were posted with this caption.
The statement further reads, “The King presented honours to recipients from across Scotland, recognising their exceptional achievements in fields including public service, charity, business, sports, arts and education.”
King Charles says, “Congratulations to all those who received their well-deserved honours today. Your dedication, passion and service have made a profound difference to the lives of many.”
Earlier, the historic Ceremony of the Keys took place in the Gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Dating back centuries, this tradition symbolises Edinburgh welcoming its monarch.
The Lord Provost presented the Keys of the City to the king, who returned them for safekeeping.
The King’s Bodyguard Scotland, established in 1822 during King George’s visit, formed the Guard of Honour.
Music was provided by The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and their Pipes and Drums, accompanying this traditional royal ceremony in Scotland.
