The New York Knicks claimed the NBA Championship title ending a 53 year drought on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The Knicks beat Spurs in Finals Game 5, 94-90 at San Antonio, Texas in a best-of-seven series.

It marks the first championship title since 1973 , when Knicks lifted the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.

The Knicks’ fans have erupted in joy, gathered at the Madison Square Garden, NYC with buzzing the triumph.

Jalen Brunson against all odds, is the star of the night, with all guns blazing.

Brunson posted 45 points that bring the Wembanyama led Spurs to elimination from the championship.

Brunson has been named the NBA Finals MVP player after averaging 32.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists in a best-of-seven series that ended on Game 5.

The Free-throw line was instrumental in securing the big win for the Knicks.

The Knicks attempted 28 free throws, while the Spurs only had 18, with Brunson alone earning 15 foul shots.

The New York attempted eight more free throws than the Spurs who had only a 4 point victory margin.

Brunson in an on-court interview was overwhelmed with the emotions.

“I don’t know what I’m feeling. I’m just like, I’m in awe. I don’t know. Whenever someone counted us out, we found a way to come back and do something about it,” Brunson said.

The last time the Knicks played the NBA Finals was in 1999, also against the Spurs, but were unfortunate to win.
