Kock helps Proteas post huge 358-4 against India
JOHANNESBURG: Young Quinton de Kock in smashed a brilliant century to steer South Africa to a huge total of 358 for four against India in the first One-day International here at the Wanderers on Thursday.

Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers and JP Duminy also scored supporting fifties to strengthen the South Africa’s position. It was a confident turn for the South Africa batsmen, who had struggled against Pakistan, but there is a big difference in the quality of the Pakistan and India attacks.

Amla started scratchily, which showed in how he scored just 65 of the 152-run opening stand, but de Kock looked in fine touch from the start.
Kock made 135 off 121 balls, his career-best score, with three sixes and eighteen boundaries.

Later captain AB de Villiers and Jean-Paul Duminy added 105 in the 7.4 overs as they batted together. De Villiers hit four sixes and as many fours in his 47-ball 77 while Duminy struck five sixes and four boundaries in his unbeaten 59 off 29.

For India, five bowlers conceded more than fifty runs with Mohit Sharma on top with 82 in ten bowlers. However, Mohammad Shami succeeded in capturing three wickets for 68 from ten bowlers.
