Tom Hardy is set to return to MobLand, with sources confirming he will be back for a potential third season of the Paramount+ crime drama after a reported falling out with the production team.
Variety confirmed the news, revealing that Hardy and executive producer Jez Butterworth, along with representatives from 101 Studios and others involved in the show, met in London to resolve their differences following the completion of Season 2 filming in March.
The reconciliation appears to have been successful, with plans now in place for Hardy to reprise his role as fixer Harry Da Souza.
A third season has not been formally announced, but given the show's performance on the platform, MobLand quickly became the second most-watched series on Paramount+ after its launch last spring, one seems all but inevitable.
Hardy's return has the enthusiastic backing of his co-star Helen Mirren, who has been vocal in her support both on social media and in person.
Speaking to Variety at the Taormina Film Festival, she made her feelings about working with Hardy again abundantly clear.
"Absolutely. In a fucking heartbeat," she said.
"I love Tom, I think he's the most amazing actor. Different actors have different processes. I've learnt over the years that some people get to things faster. As long as what's on the screen is fantastic, I'm totally chilled with however someone gets there. Tom is a very special person. I think he's absolutely remarkable. My support of him is genuine and heartfelt."
MobLand, created by Ronan Bennett, follows the Harrigan crime family, with Pierce Brosnan playing patriarch Conrad, Mirren as his wife Maeve and Paddy Considine as their son Kevin.
Butterworth wrote all ten episodes of the first season alongside Bennett.
With its stellar cast and strong audience numbers, the dispute between Hardy and the production team now appears to be firmly in the past.
