The Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams exited the game against the Vikings in the fourth quarter after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Williams exited the field halfway through the last quarter at a time the Bears had the ball possession into the Vikings end zone.
One play after running back Kyle Monangai converted a fourth down with 8:30 left, Williams ran to his left off a bootleg on first-and-goal with a clear path to the end zone.
He went down awkwardly as it appeared Andrew Van hit Williams’ heel while trying to make a tackle.
Williams apparently looked in pain as he grabbed for his hamstring and tried twice to get to his feet on his own.
He was carted off the field with the help of the trainers.
Williams was replaced by backup quarterback Tyson Bagent, but the Bears couldn’t find the end zone despite running two plays inside Minnesota’s 6-yard line.
The No. 1 pick of the 2024 draft, Williams completed 15 of 26 passes for 138 yards with an interception. He also had five carriers for 42 yards.
The Minnesota Vikings won 9-3 against the Bears in their opener game at Soldier Field.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson provided an update on Williams' injury, saying, “We’ll know tomorrow,” adding that he had chatted with Williams after the game and that he was in “good spirits.”
Williams is now set to undergo tests on Monday, September 21, to determine the exact nature of the right hamstring injury he dealt with.
