Alex Bregman shows off facial injury in graphic photo after being hit by foul ball

Alex Bregman was hit by a foul ball to the face in the Chicago Cubs’ latest game, but the snap he shared online looked even worse than the one captured on camera.

The Chicago Cubs secured their MLB playoff run after a blowout 9-1 win against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

The 32-year-old baseman was hit in the face by a foul ball during the fourth inning of the Cubs' latest win.

Bregman fell down within seconds, grabbing his face after being hit, an injury that forced him to leave the game.

He later shared a graphic picture, showing a swollen face on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Bregman wrote, “Thanks for all the messages, y’all. I’ll be back.”

The Cubs manager Craig Counsell said, “He got hit in the left cheekbone essentially, under the eye. I don’t know anything more than that right now."

However, as per the latest reports, there’s no indication that the Cubs have ruled out Bregman, who was reportedly going for X-rays and CT scans, from traveling with the team back to Chicago.

As the regular MLB season draws to a close, the Cubs will want to secure their postseason place and then take some time to get ready for the final stretch, but all their hopes rest on Bregman healing fast.
