The eldest daughter of slain Ohio mother Ashley Flynn wasn't surprised when she learned about her father’s mistress, Flynn’s sister said during a court hearing this week.
Ashley, 37, was shot in the head in her Tipp City home in the early hours of February 16, 2026.
Her husband, Caleb Flynn, a former American Idol contestant, is facing trial in the murder of his late wife.
Ashley Flynn was a middle school volleyball coach and substitute teacher in Tipp City, Ohio.
Caleb, 40, a former pastor at a local church, reportedly sent text messages to his mistress in the days leading up to the murder about plans to murder his wife, jurors heard last week.
On Monday, September 21, Ashley’s sister testified before the jury that the mistress was a woman they all knew from church.
The Flynn’s daughters, ages 10 and 12, were in the next room when Ashley was killed, according to the testimony filed by prosecutors in the court.
Ashley’s sister Kayla Keyt, while testifying before the court on Monday, revealed that although the girls were “shocked” to hear about their father’s affair, the eldest daughter was “not surprised” when she came to know who her father’s mistress was.
The hearing was streamed online by Court TV.
“They were brokenhearted for Mommy,” Keyt said of the girls' reaction upon learning the affair with someone they personally knew.
“They were shocked, they were upset for their mom because they said, ‘She loved daddy more than anyone else in life. So why did Daddy not love her as much?”’
Prosecutors have zeroed in on the alleged mistress and claim they have retrieved over 100,000 texts exchanged between the two in the year before Ashley’s killing, per People.
Flynn was taken into custody three days after the incident. He now faces charges of aggravated murder and other related offences.
The trial is expected to last for two weeks, with over 100 people listed as potential witnesses.
The woman is also expected to testify in the trial.
