'Home Improvement' alum Jonathan Taylor Thomas arrested after resisting cop in California

Home Improvement star Jonathan Taylor Thomas was detained following an alleged altercation with police officers on Monday, 21, 2026.

The incident took place in Westlake Village, California, where Taylor reportedly scuffled with the law enforcement officials.

The former child actor, Thomas, was booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station but was later released, per court documents.

The incident took place when police stopped a vehicle with Thomas sitting in the back seat.

When deputies told Thomas to stay inside the vehicle, he exited instead, which led to the alleged altercation while he was intoxicated.

Law enforcement officials told the media that "The driver was being detained for a DUI investigation.

“He was uncooperative with them, failed to follow orders, and obstructed the investigation, so he was arrested for obstruction, and he was arrested for drunk in public.”

Thomas has kept a low profile in recent years, but he reunited with Home Improvement costars Patricia Richardson and Taran Noah Smith in July.

Home Improvement runs for eight seasons, with Richardson playing Jill Taylor, the wife of Tim Allen’s character, Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor.

Thomas and Smith became famous in homes everywhere, portraying sons Randy and Mark Taylor, respectively, while Zachery Ty Bryan played oldest son Brad.

Besides Home Improvement, Thomas also appeared in films, including Tom and Huck and Man of the House.

He was also the voice of young Simba in Disney’s 1994 production, The Lion of King.

However, the identity of the driver has not been made public, and the district attorney's office has not filed any charges against Thomas at the time of writing.
