It's time leaders rendered sacrifices: Gilani

JARANWALA: Glorifying Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers countless sacrifices, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Saturday said that it was time leaders rendered sacrifices rather than workers.

Addressing a public meeting here after inaugurating different development projects in the area, the Prime Minister said, “The workers of PPP never compromised and remained committed to the party and loyal to the leadership of the party.”

He said, “I am proud of the devotion of the workers of the party who remained steadfast with the leadership and rendered sacrifices for strengthening of democratic process in the country.”

He said the PPP is the only party which rendered sacrifices for the country and for democracy.

The Prime Minister said, “We will continue the politics of reconciliation which was introduced by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and after the completion of five years, the PPP will go before the masses on the basis of its performance.”

Gilani said Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto did not compromise and sacrificed his life despite many offers from different countries because he wanted to alive in history.

He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto is still alive in history after many years of his shahadat.

Referring to the importance of Jaranwala, the Prime Minister said it is an industrial center of Faisalabad and has historic importance because Quaid-e-Azam also addressed public meeting here.

He said PPP is not only a political party but a movement, which has played important role in the progress, prosperity and development of the country.

Gilani said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and Benazir Bhutto brought revolution in the country for the welfare of the masses and no other personality could do so.

He said whosoever was supported by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, he became member of the parliament because this party had the support of the masses.

The Prime Minister said the PPP raised the slogan of Roti, Kapra and Makan and ensured it to the people.

He said Benazir Bhutto came to Pakistan to launch a movement for the restoration of judiciary, ensure the rights of the people and against the dictatorship.

He said former President Musharaf was forced to quit the office of Chief of Army Staff due to the wisdom of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who fought for the rights of the people of Pakistan and did not care for her own life.

The Prime Minister said the vision, thought and ideas of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto are still alive in the hearts and minds of the people and that could not be demolished.

“We are here in the government due to the vision and thought of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto and with the support of the similar political forces,” he added.

He said, “This chair of prime minitership is due to the struggle of Benazir Bhutto and we will defend her ideologies, ideas and vision at all cost.”

“We promise to remain committed with the vision, thoughts and ideas of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto and carry forward their politics of reconciliation,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the mission of serving the nation and people will continue by the PPP leadership.

He said there has been unprecedented progress during the present tenure of the PPP through out the country.

Gilani said today every party is saying that they will bring change and defeat all others and even some are saying that they will get more wickets on one ball, but the people have not given them any chance.
He said, “We have done politics of principles and even went to jails but never compromise”.

He said, “We were told that Benazir Bhutto will not come back, and offered incentives but we refused saying that we will not accept the rule which is without the support of the masses.”

He said the PPP is in the government with the support of the masses and ideological friends.

The Prime Minister said the response of the people in the public meetings of the PPP is due to its achievements and measures taken for the welfare of the people.

He said PPP is the only party where leaders and workers sacrificed together.

The Prime Minister said the workers have rendered many sacrifices and the party is fully aware of their sacrifices and would remember them.
He also announced to complete the gas supply projects, roads construction, electricity provision projects with the cost of Rs. 10 billion.

The Prime Minister said the UAE government provided two power plants, which were installed at Faisalabad as it is industrial area and need these plants.

He also mentioned the projects inaugurated by him in the area that include gas supply, Benazir Park, new road with and provision of Broadband facilities at the schools of Jaranawala.

The Prime Minister said the completion of under-construction roads, in the area will bring revolution in the region.

He said the completion of Syed Wala Bridge will also bring revolution in the development of the area.

The broadband facility inaugurated by him today at a cost of Rs. 1.40 billion will be helpful for whole region of Faisalabad.

Appreciating the decision of distribution of computers by the Punjab Government to students, he said infrastructure is also important and it is being provided by the federal government.

Regarding the demand to declare Jaranawala a district, he said if all the representatives of the area are agreed then he will ask the provincial government to take the decision on priority basis. He also announced to set up an IT University in Jaranwala.

He promised to take steps for establishing Industrial Zone in the area.
The Prime Minister also directed the Chairman of Evacuee Trust Board to resolve the issue of tenants.

He also asked the provincial gov ernment to give big city status to Jaranwala. (APP)
