KARACHI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghauri Sunday inaugurated ferryboat service from Kemari to Manora, Geo News reported.
The service will be free of cost for all and sundry.
For this purpose, Karachi Port Trust (KPT) had acquired two passenger boats from Western Marine Shipyard of Bangladesh at a cost of 200 million Bangladeshi takas.
The 30-metre long and 6.18-metre wide boats have a capacity of carrying 215 passengers and 10 crewmembers.
One of the ferryboats has been named after Pakistan’s young IT genius late Arfa Karim and the other after MQM leader Altaf Hussain’s daughter Fiza Altaf.
Apart form other dignitaries Consul General of Bangladesh and Arfa Karim's parents attended the launching ceremony.
