ISLAMABAD: Chairman All Pakistan Ulema Council, Tahir Ashrafi has stressed upon President Asif Ali Zardari to get the minor Christian girl, Rimsha, out of police custody in the wake of evidence-tampering reports, Geo News reported.
“President Zardari must issue directives to ensure not only her release but her safety as well.”
Ashrafi also urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry, to take a suo moto notice of this case.
It is pertinent to mention that police Saturday night arrested ‘imam masjid’, Khalid Jadoon, after an eyewitness said that he had wangled the evidence to frame up Rimsha, who has been in detention since she was allegedly found holding in her hand burnt pages with holy verses printed on them.
Earlier talking to Geo News, Ashrafi also asked all the clerics in Pakistan to suggest a punishment befitting for the kind of irreverence Khalid Jadoon showed towards the holy book.
