PESHAWAR: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sports minister, Aqil Shah’s, academic degrees as fake here on Friday, Geo News reported.
The case has been sent to a session judge.
ECP passed the judgment after hearing the cases of Aqil Shah and federal minister Umar Gorgaij.
ECP found Umar Gorgaij’s credentials genuine, whereas two of Aqil Shah’s academic degrees were found unauthentic.
It is mention-worthy that Aqil Shah holds three academic degrees; one each from Punjab University and a Karachi’s institute and the other from American College Lahore.
Commenting on the verdict, Aqil Shah said that he didn’t even submit his certificates for the scrutiny then how could they be declared fake.
Shah termed it a conspiracy.
During the hearing of the case a member of commission reprimanded Aqil Shah saying neither his degrees were genuine nor did he bring anything (medals) back from Olympics.
