ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has red warrant issued from Interpol for the arrest of Mohsin Warriach who is absconding abroad and accused of embezzlements in National Insurance Company Limited, Geo News reported Monday.
Supreme Court (SC) expressed disapproval for the escape of Ayaz Niazi—main accused in the scandal, remarking the escape of main accused would give impression that he ran clear of arrest on being influential.
A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard NICL land scam case.
FIA Chief Wasim Ahmed told the court that ten people other than former chief Ayaz Niazi have been taken in custody, adding Niazi’s property has been confiscated and efforts for his arrests are underway.
FIA’s Director Zafar Qureshi said he would soon give good news to the apex court. Federal Commerce Secretary Zafar Mehmood appeared before the court on summon.
It should be mentioned here that Mohsin Warraich has been accused of siphoning off millions of rupees in the bank account of his spouse, Mehwish Warraich, from the Rs3 billion he is alleged to have made by defrauding the NIC. |
