KARACHI: An all-glass squash court has been erected at Karachi’s PAF museum for the Legends vs Champions Squash series to be held between Pakistan and Egypt in April.

This is the first time in Pakistan that an all-glass squash court is being set up in an open park; at a cost of Rs. 30 million.

The series, Legends vs Champions, will be played from 5th till the 7th of April and will feature Egypt's top five squash players, all ranked in the top 20 in the world ranking.

“Top five Egyptians, from world four to world 17, are coming. They’ll play against top Pakistani players,” senior vice president of Pakistan Squash Federation AVM Razi Nawab told Geo News.

Egypt has already confirmed participation of World No 4 Omar Mossad, World No. 7 Karim Abdul Gawad, World No. 6 Tarek Momin, World No. 14 Ali Farag and Word No. 17 Mazen Hesham for the series against Pakistan.

Pakistan Squash Federation announceD the Pakistani team for the series on Thursday night. The Pakistan squad includes Farhan Zaman, Tayab Aslam, Shahjahan, Farhan Mehboob and Asim Khan.

PSF is hopeful that this event will be a step in the right direction to achieve glories for Pakistan in the world of Squash.

“When the games are promoted at grass root level, then [we] start getting legends. We need to promote sports at [the] grass root level if we want to have world champions and this is a step towards that direction,” said Razi Nawab.

Pakistan Squash Federation will also honour the country’s legendary squash players Jahangir Khan, Jansher Khan, Gogi Alaudin, Mohibullah and Qamar Zaman.
