Qaim Ali Shah hands in resignation to Governor Sindh

KARACHI: Qaim Ali Shah handed over his resignation to Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad today.

Pakistan People's Party has nominated Murad Ali Shah as the new Sindh chief minister.

Opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has nominated Khurram Sher Zaman for the slot, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement brought in its own nominee.

The PPP will try to win support of all parties. "We will listen to all stakeholders," Murad Ali Shah siad. 

The CM bid farewell to staff of the CM House which he occupied for over eight years, sources said.

Qaim Ali Shah will move to the Jilani house today, sources added.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday paid respect to Shah who has stood with the party through thick and thin for 50 years.

Calling Shah’s tenure in Sindh successful he said, “Compared to all other provinces most development took place in Sindh.”

Maula Bux Chandio, advisor to Sindh chief minister said, “When faces are changed policies change. For the upcoming elections PPP needed an enthusiastic prime minister.”

The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has named Murad Ali Shah as the new chief minister of Sindh following the party’s decision at a top-level meeting in Dubai on Sunday to replace Qaim Ali Shah. The decision was announced at a meeting presided by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Adviser to CM for Information, Moula Bux Chandio, confirmed the nomination of Murad Ali Shah and said that a 'change' has come in the province.

"There was a need for more energetic and courageous leader to prepare for the next elections," he said, adding that the names of Murad Ali Shah's team would also be revealed in a couple of days.

Some other changes in the provincial government are also likely as the Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani might become the minister for local government, a position he had held in the previous provincial cabinet.

Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Minister for Environment, could be the new speaker of the Sindh Assembly. Senior Minister for Education and Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro could be given the slot of either home or finance. Mir Nadir Khan Magsi is likely to rejoin the provincial cabinet as food minister, a portfolio he had in the previous provincial government.

Jam Khan Shoro, the Minister for Local Government, could be given the charge of Prisons Department.It is likely that 50 percent of the new provincial cabinet would comprise newcomers including three women MPAs, Rubina Sadaat Qaimkhani, Shaheena Sher Ali and Irum Khalid, as ministers or advisers. 

Nominated CM vows to tackle health, education issues

Speaking to Geo News Murad Ali Shah said that he will launch a health and education emergency in the province.

He added that maintaining peace in the city will be his biggest challenge.
