KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar on Monday said that the incident of violence on August 22 was not ‘pre-planned.’

While talking to Shahzeb Khanzada in the show ‘Aaj Shahzeb khanzada Kay Sath’ the MQM Pakistan leader said that at the time the party leaders were in state of ‘shock’.

He said that the party has no links with people who vandalised properties and resorted to violence, although saying that ‘there might be some who committed crimes.’

“I should be referred to as MQM Pakistan chief,”said Farooq Sattar said while responding to one of Shahzeb's questions during the show.

Sattar was basically negating the earlier revelations by Director General of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major General Bilal Akbar.

DG Rangers Sindh earlier today said that August 22 violence was an organised act. MQM’s Labour Division acted as a facilitator in the attack, revealed DG Rangers Sindh.

Maj Gen Bilal Akbar also said MQM sector and unit workers were involved in the August 22 violence which had killed one man and injured around eight people.
