Nearly 200 KP cadet college students hospitalized after food poisoning

The cause of food poisoning is yet to be ascertained, students say they ate rice, chicken and drank soft drinks

SWABI/MARDAN: Nearly 200 students of a cadet college in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were admitted to different hospitals on Sunday after their condition worsened due to food poisoning, hospital authorities said.

More than 180 pupils of the Colonel Sher Khan Cadet College, Swabi fell ill due to food poisoning on Sunday night, who were shifted to different hospitals in Mardan.

The cause of food poisoning could not be ascertained immediately, according to sources.

Students said they ate rice, chicken and drank soft drinks, following which they fell ill.

Over 100 pupils have been brought to Mardan Medical Complex, confirmed Director Dr Tariq Mehmood. He added that all of them are out of danger.

Mehmood said that food samples have been dispatched to laboratory to ascertain the cause of food poisoning.
