One killed, 19 injured in Multan swing accident

MULTAN: At least one man died and 19 others including children were wounded after a swing collapsed in Multan's Jinnah Park on Wednesday.

The incident occurred after a safety lock of the swing got opened, leaving 20 people wounded, who were shifted to a hospital.

One of the injured succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.

Out of 19 wounded people, 12 were discharged after minor treatment. Seven other wounded in the wake of accident are still hospitalized.

Police have arrested contractor of the park and the swing operator.

Chief Minister Punjab took notice of the incident and has demanded a report on the matter within the next two days.

Eye witnesses said the incident was pre-planned and not an accident.
