Former captain Wasim Akram says head coach Mickey Arthur has breathed new life into the Pakistan team.

Talking to Geo News on Wednesday ahead of the third ODI between Pakistan and West Indies, the ‘Swing ka Sultan’ said Mickey Arthur has instilled confidence into the players which can be seen in their fearless performance during the series.

“Arthur has ended their fears. Players are playing their natural game because he has assured them they don’t need to worry, they will be given another chance even if they fail,” Wasim Akram said.

Discussing the West Indies’ lackluster display during the series, the former cricketer said the team has been a big disappointment and Pakistan should take full advantage of that.

“The Windies seem to be sleeping. They don’t know what to do. This is our chance to clean sweep them,” he said.

Wasim Akram said Azhar Ali will inevitably receive some credit for Pakistan’s victory since he is the captain but his individual performance has been far from satisfactory and he is under a lot of pressure to find his form again.

Pakistan, desperate to boost their ODI rankings and buoyed by consecutive wins, will look to whitewash the West Indies 3-0 by winning the third and final ODI today in Abu Dhabi.
