PPP emerges victorious in PS-11 Shikarpur by-polls

SHIKARPUR: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has emerged victorious in the by-polls held in Sindh Assembly constituency PS-11, Shikarpur on Thursday, unofficial and unconfirmed results suggested.

PPP candidate Imtiaz Sheikh clinched the provincial assembly seat by bagging the highest 36,200 votes, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.

He was followed by Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) nominee Nasir Soomro, who secured 27,400 votes.

The voting process for the by-polls in PS-11, Shikarpur, began at 8am and continued till 5pm without any break.

On the whole, 1,35,435 voters were registered for the polls in the constituency, out of whom 72,940 were men and 62,486 women.

All 105 polling stations were declared sensitive for the by-polls.

The seat fell vacant after Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) MPA Imtiaz Shaikh joined Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

PTI fielded Azam Brohi, while independent candidate Zahid Mirani also participated in the run for the provincial assembly seat.
