Indus Raag goes global again

KARACHI: Pakistani album Indus Raag has received a double nomination in the Independent Music Awards, which are to be held next month in USA.

Created to develop, archive, and promote classical, folk, and various traditions of Indo-Pak subcontinent, the project including two compilations 'Music beyond borders' and 'Karachi concerts' has been nominated in the World Music and Special Edition/Craft categories of the IMAs.

Project producer/curator Sharif Awan announced yet another international recognition for Indus Raag during a press conference held in Karachi which already earned him a Gold and a Silver medal at the Global Music Awards earlier this year.

Two nominations for the project in one of the top rated international indie awards is the fourth international recognition for Indus Raag which also made history by becoming a valid entry in the 59th Grammy Awards as Best World Music Album.

Expressing his gratitude and congratulating all participating artists featured in the album, Awan said the award winners would be revealed at a ceremony held on November 12th at Lincoln's Centre in New York.
