Stephen Amell and family moved to beach for 'Baywatch' filming

Stephen Amell turned a TV shoot into a summer beach adventure for the whole family. 

The actor, who plays Hobie Buchannon in Fox's upcoming Baywatch reboot, told Us Weekly on the 2026 Emmy Awards red carpet Monday, September 14, that his family relocated with him to Venice, California, during production.

"It was really cool because it's one of those opportunities, like, as a family, it was like summer camp where you go on an adventure," Amell, 45, recalled. 

He shared that his kids, 12-year-old daughter Mavin "Mavi" and 4-year-old son Bowen, whom he shares with wife Cassandra Jean, didn't tire of beach life even after an extended stay. 

"We wrapped on August 7. We moved out August 8. It was great," he said.

Amell, who normally calls Los Angeles home, said stepping away from their usual routine ended up being the perfect send-off before the school year started. 

"It's also one of those things where you know you live in your home for, we were in our house in L.A. for 10 years and, like, you sort of stop appreciating it," he explained. 

"And then you leave for a couple of months, and you come back, and you're like, 'Hey, don't you look nice?'"

The relocation also called for a genuine highlight for his daughter, a meeting with his Baywatch co-star Shay Mitchell, who plays Trina on the series, premiering in January. 

"It's great because Shay has these two companies. She has BÉIS, and then she has her new cosmetics company, Rini, which are beauty products for young women," Amell said, noting that Mitchell gifted his daughter a haul of products. 

The moment took an unexpected turn when TSA confiscated the goods on the way home. 

"It got taken, and there were tears," Amell said, until he reached out to Mitchell for backup. 

"I texted Shay, like, it was the bat signal, and I was like, 'You gotta send us some [more],'" he recalled, adding that Mitchell came through with a "fantastic" replacement care package.
