ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has approved request to issue red warrants for two Baloch separatist leaders, Brahumdagh Bugti and Sher Mohammad, both living in self-exile in Europe.

“The approval has been granted and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has formally received the directions of the Interior Ministry in this regard,” an official closed to the developments revealed this to Geo News on Tuesday.

Balochistan government had requested the FIA for getting red warrants of both the self-exiled leaders in connection with cases of terrorism registered against them in different parts of the province.

The sources claimed that following the request of the Balochistan home department along with the copies of cases , warrants by Anti Terrorism Courts and declaration of absconders (for both the leaders), the FIA approached the Interior Ministry for formal approval which has been granted.

They added the FIA is likely to approach the Interpol within next two working days for securing the arrest of both the leaders.

Brahumdagh Bugti is reportedly living in Switzerland these days. In last September, he had applied for asylum in India. There are reports that Sher Mohammad alias Sher Baloch is also living in Europe, however he has maintained a low profile.

Brahumdagh was accompanying his grandfather and famous Baloch leader, Akbar Bugti, when he was killed in Kohlu district of Balochistan during a military operation. He had managed to flee from the site. Military at that time claimed that Akbar Bugti had blown up the same cave in which he was hiding, which resulted in demolition of cave and subsequent death of the veteran Baloch leader.

It is pertinent to mention here that according to the section 3 of Interpol law it does not entertain the cases relating to politics and religion basis on the basis of which, it recently, partially turned down FIA’s request for arresting MQM leader Altaf Hussain, who is also living in self-exile in Britain.
