Alleged rapist killed in police operation, body of tortured woman found in Karachi

KARACHI: One suspect was killed and another arrested during search operations in various parts of the city on Sunday night, Geo News reported.

A suspect was killed during an exchange of fire between Pirabad police and his accomplices near Kati Pahari area late Sunday night, SP Orangi said, adding that a search operation to arrest those who escaped is underway.

According to the SP, the suspect was accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl, Geo News added.

In a separate incident, the tortured body of a woman was found in a house in City Railway Colony, Geo News reported.

On the other hand, police arrested a suspect after he was injured during an encounter near Golimar Chowrangi late Sunday night, SSP Central Muqaddas Haider stated.

The security official stated that weapons, cash, and a mobile phone were recovered from the suspect, who was taken into custody as he attempted to rob a citizen.

Two other suspects were detained in Gulshan Iqbal, Geo News reported.

Robber dead, drug-seller arrested in Okara

One robber was killed during a police encounter in Okara, DPO Hasan Asad Alvi said, as the suspect and his accomplices were robbing people by placing hurdles on the road.

An exchange of fire commenced as soon as the police arrived on the scene, resulting in the suspect getting killed by his own accomplices’ gunfire, Alvi claimed.

The deceased, however, could not be identified.

In another incident, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a drug-seller during a raid conducted near Depalpur Chowk in Okara, said officials, adding that 30kg and 2.4kg of hashish and opium, respectively, were recovered from the suspect's car.

A case has been registered against the suspect, the ANF officials informed.
