ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria on Monday said that Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav continues to provide crucial intelligence with regard to recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

He was speaking to the media during the weekly media briefing.

Earlier, Khawar Qureshi, the lawyer representing Pakistan in the Kulbushan Jadhav case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), remarked that ICJ will neither release the spy nor acquit him.

Speaking to the media after holding a meeting over the high-profile case with Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali, he remarked “the commander Jadhav case is a very clear case. Commander Jadhav can never be released or acquitted. You are making something out of nothing.”

He also advised the media officials to “behave responsibly” and “give Pakistani officials the respect they deserve.”

Earlier, the lawyer had remarked that India wrongly claimed victory after the ICJ temporarily stayed the death sentence of Jadhav. He had explained that the problem seems to be that this case is more about political point scoring than about the law.

The lawyer had come under fire after the ICJ verdict. Many political analysts and politicians had claimed that the decision came against Pakistan as the country’s legal counsel was not adequately prepared.

Following the verdict, reports stated that the attorney general was appointed lead counsel to represent Pakistan at the ICJ.
