WASHINGTON: Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry, said on Thursday that Pakistan’s efforts to bring peace in the region would not be disrupted by the rhetoric of the Afghan leadership.

He said that Pakistan wishes to see a peaceful, stable, prosperous, and sovereign Afghanistan.

The ambassador said this while participating in a panel discussion in Washington DC. He stressed that there is an opportunity for both Pakistan and the United States to work together to achieve peace in Afghanistan.

He said mistrust between the two countries is blocking the progress in achieving the objective of peace.

“Terrorism under any pretext is not acceptable to us [Pakistan],” Chaudhry said.

The ambassador reiterated that Pakistan’s efforts to bring peace in the region would not be interrupted by the rhetoric of the Afghan leadership.
