ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said his party is closely observing the proceedings in relation to the review petitions filed by the Sharif family.

Speaking to media earlier today, Chaudhry claimed that the review petitions filed by the Sharifs were mere attempts to distract the Supreme Court from its supervision of the case proceedings.

“The appeals are intended to end the given six-month duration of the references,” he said.

“NAB is siding with the Sharif family,” he further alleged.

PTI leader Naeem ul Haque also addressed media personnel and lashed out at the National Accountability Bureau, saying that it was using delaying tactics to stall proceedings.

“PM secretariat’s in-charge is still working on Nawaz’s orders,” Haque said, while demanding that the apex court take suo motu notice of this.

He further urged the apex court to issue instructions for releasing reports on the Dawn Leaks saga and Model Town incident [of 2014].

Fawad's second media talk

Speaking to the media after the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing, Chaudhry said the last point of review will be argued by Nawaz's lawyer tomorrow.

"Harris will likely conclude his arguments tomorrow," he said, adding that Harris’s main point today was that Nawaz should have been disqualified under the Representation of People Act not Article 62 of the Constitution, as under the former one is not disqualified for life.

"His second point was that this case should have come through the trial courts and not directly to Supreme Court," shared Chaudhry.

The PTI leader said the average person is not concerned with legal intricacies but wants punishment for those who looted public money.

"I hope that taking cue from the judges’ hints Nawaz and his party will now be careful asking why he was disqualified," he added.
