LAHORE: Flamboyant all-rounder and former captain Shahid Afridi has said he is always available to serve Pakistan cricket in whatever capacity he can.

Afridi, who was honored along with his former teammate and captain Misbah-ul-Haq during the third match of the Independence series, said Pakistan has always been his priority.

“Pakistan and Pakistan cricket is always important for me, today I am here for Pakistan cricket and to thank the people who have been supporting Pakistan cricket,” Afridi told media in Lahore.

Afridi also said he is happy that he was honored alongside Misbah.

“I have always spoken for this trend, those who have served Pakistan cricket should be given a proper and memorable send-off,” said the former captain.

The all-rounder did a lap of honour at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday during the innings break, to deafening cheers of “Boom Boom Afridi” from the crowd as the rickshaw drove him in front of different enclosures.

The former captain added that it is good to see cricket returning to Pakistan and PCB deserves credit for this.

“Good to see that cricket is back, I give credit to PCB. Hope these events are held in other cities as well.”

“I have always spoken to my county and other league teammates to encourage them for playing in Pakistan. Being an ambassador of Pakistan cricket, it is our duty to promote a positive image of Pakistan wherever we go,” Afridi said.
