LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday issued contempt of court notices to Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and provincial chief secretary over the nomination of members of Punjab Healthcare Commission without the approval of the top court.
The SC in November had dissolved the Board of Commissioners of the Punjab Healthcare Commission and directed the authorities to form a new body within two-weeks time.
Notices have also been issued against secretary health and additional secretary health for assisting the minister in issuing notification without the apex court's approval.
The top court has directed Dr Rashid and the secretaries to submit their replies in the court in the next two days and explain why the proposed names were not shared in the court despite the orders.
