Filmmaker Nabeel Qureshi has said that that the year 2018 was great for Pakistani films.

The Na Maloom Afraad director took to social media and said that Pakistani films earned more collectively at the local cinemas than Bollywood and Hollywood films.

“The year 2018, has been great for Pakistani films altogether, cinemas have earned more from Pakistani films instead of Bollywood/Hollywood films released this year. It is a big achievement — may it do great in 2019 as well,” he tweeted.

Films such as Teefa in Trouble, Load Wedding, Parwaaz Hai Junoon, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and the animated film The Donkey King broke records at the Pakistani box office in 2018.

The Donkey King remained the only Pakistani film among the top trending movies in the country on Google for the year 2018 while Load Wedding directed by Qureshi has been nominated for the best feature film at the Jaipur International Film Festival.
