The first look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft is officially here as production on the new Tomb Raider reboot officially begins.

On Thursday, January 15, Prime Video unveiled the first pictures of the Game of Thrones alum dressed up as the legendary video game character. For her first wardrobe test, Turner perfectly embodied the British archaeologist and adventurer in her iconic tank top, shorts, and a gun strapped to her thigh. She rounded off the look with Lara’s trademark ponytail, adding a fresh touch with red-tinted sunglasses.

“Get your artifacts out. Lara’s on her way,” the streamer teased as it announced that production is underway. The upcoming television series, helmed by Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, marks the latest adaptation of the hit video game series.

The last Tom Raider film adaptation in 2018 was led by Golden-Globe nominated Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. However, the actress most famously associated with Lara Croft is Angelina Jolie, who first brought the character to life on the big screen in 2001.

Turner, 29, has admitted that she has “massive shoes to fill,” but she’s not one to shy away from the challenge. “I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara,” she previously said in a statement. “She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!”

Creator Waller-Bridge expressed a similar sentiment. “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all,” the comedian said.

Turner will be joined by Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and Celia Imrie for the new series.
