Justin and Hailey Bieber have had enough of the rumours surrounding their marriage.

TMZ reported on January 14 that the couple — who tied the knot in 2018 and welcomed their son Jack Blues last year — has hired legal representation after a TikTok creator alleged their relationship was “abusive” and fuelled by the pop star’s supposed “drug addiction.”

The outlet reports that the Biebers’ lawyer, Evan Spiegel, sent a cease-and-desist letter to TikTok user Julie Theis, accusing her of fabricating and spreading defamatory claims about the couple. He warned that her actions were “wrongful, highly damaging, actionable, and expose [her] to substantial liability.”

The controversy began after Theis described Hailey, 29, as a “tolerant codependent” wife in a video discussing relationship dynamics. A few days ago, the Rhode founder shut down claims that she reshared the video, writing on Instagram Stories, “I know you guys who live on the internet are really bored, but I didn’t repost any video speaking on my relationship. Have a beautiful Saturday!”

Spiegel demanded that Theis “immediately” remove the videos and stop alleging the Biebers are in an abusive relationship, warning that if she didn’t comply, the couple would have no choice “but to protect their rights and remedies against you.”

Theis addressed the letter on social media, claiming it was sent to “silence and intimidate” her.

“Being offended by the opinions people have does not entitle you to people’s voices,” she said, calling the move “elitist” and a “temper tantrum of the rich.” She also told TMZ, “It’s extremely elitist to try to silence opinions just because you disagree. Disagreement is not defamation,” adding that she has allegedly received death threats.
