EU Representative Federica Mogherini lauds Pakistan's efforts for peace, stability

RAWALPINDI: EU Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and discussed with him affairs of mutual interest and regional security situation.

The meeting took place at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts and the positive role being played for regional peace and stability, the statement added.

Prior to that, Pakistan and the European Union held fourth round of a strategic dialogue in Islamabad. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi led the Pakistani side, while Mogherini headed the EU side.

The two sides agreed to a new strategic engagement plan for building a sturdy partnership in the fields of defence, trade, democracy, governance and human rights.
