Uzbek woman Yelena had gone missing back in May, police said, and her kidnapper was arrested from Islamabad

LAHORE: An Uzbek woman reportedly kidnapped from here in the city a few days ago was recovered from Islamabad on Sunday, police confirmed.

Yelena, a citizen of Uzbekistan, was said to have been kidnapped from Defence Housing Authority DHA, a high-end neighbourhood in Lahore, towards the end of May.

Local media reports had claimed that she works in Pakistan as a domestic helper and is married to a local.

Police said they have arrested the suspect, who was identified as Sohail in the first information report (FIR) registered at the Defence A station.

Both the suspect and the woman were transferred from the capital city to Lahore.
