ISLAMABAD: Journalists are protesting outside Parliament against the murder of Saleem Shahzad and threats being received by other journalists, Geo News reported.
The journalists will continue their protest for 24 hours, and are now being supported by politicians and members of civil society. They are demanding that a judicial commission led by a sitting Supreme Court Judge be formed to probe Saleem Shahzad’s murder and security be provided to journalists. They state that if the government does not listen to their demands then they would announce stricter measures after 24 hours.
Parliamentarians from all political parties have backed the demands being put forward by the journalists and have expressed solidarity with their cause.
Earlier on Wednesday, journalists staged a walk out from Parliament. Meanwhile in Sindh, journalists also protested against the murder of Saleem Shahzad. They boycotted the proceedings of the Sindh Assembly and staged a sit in.
