A nineteen year-old officer Naveed Ahmed Zehri has become the first cadet from Balochistan to receive the coveted "Sword of Honour" for his performance at the Pakistan Naval Academy (PNA), Federal Minister for Science Fawad Chaudhry tweeted Saturday.

Hailing from Khuzdar, Naveed Ahmed Zehri received the coveted award for his overall performance at a ceremony held at the 112th Midshipmen and 21st Short Service Commission (SSC) course commissioning parade held on December 28, 2019 at the PNA, popularly known as PNS Rahbar.

Zehri has “set a new record by becoming the first person from the province” to take the Sword of Honour from the naval academy, said the minister.

Chaudhry also congratulated the young officer for bringing laurels to the province.

President Arif Alvi was the chief guest at the ceremony.

Apart from Zehri, 53 foreigners and seven female cadets passed out at the ceremony.

Located at Manora Island, the Pakistan Naval Academy is the home of initial training of officers of the Pakistan Navy.
