ISLAMABAD: Senior leadership of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in its meeting chaired jointly by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has noted that Ambassador Husain Haqqani had been called to Islamabad to give his view point to the country’s leadership on the controversial memo.
It observed that natural justice demanded that the Ambassador was given a fair opportunity to give his version of the controversy.
A meeting of PPP core committee was held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.
Briefing media about the meeting, Spokesperson to the President said that overall political situation with particular reference to recent developments was discussed during the meeting.
Situation in Sindh also came under discussion and the meeting reiterated that the policy of reconciliation would continue.
The meeting reposed full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
The PPP leadership also agreed that it has no relation with Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza and therefore it is not responsible for his acts.
It further stated that issue of Mike Mullen memo would be resolved in a transparent manner and there would be no compromise on national security. (Geo Urdu/APP)
