Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez on Monday congratulated Ramiz Raja on being elected as the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

There has been beef between Raja and Hafeez, which first started when the former advised the latter to retire earlier this year on his YouTube channel.

The former cricketer had suggested the all-rounder "retire gracefully" and let youngsters get a chance to play for the national team.

In an interview last year, Hafeez had said that although he respects Raja as a former player, he has reservations regarding his "cricket sense" and "game awareness".

"Congratulations @iramizraja as chairman @TheRealPCB. Best wishes," Hafeez said in his tweet.

Former Pakistan captain Raja was elected unopposed as the new chairman of the PCB today as the top post had fallen vacant after Ehsan Mani stepped down following the completion of his three-year term last month.

The election for the new chairman of PCB was held in Lahore today.

The PCB’s Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed conducted the election and presided over the special meeting to elect the 36th PCB Chairman.
