NA Speaker did not fulfill legal requirements: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Thursday that National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza did not fulfill legal requirements and should have sent the disqualification reference against Prime Minister Gilani to the Election Commission.

Addressing a news conference, Nisar strongly condemned Dr. Mirza’s decision of not sending the reference, stating that the move had set a horrible example.

“By not sending the reference, Fehmida Mirza has proven that she is not the NA speaker but a PPP worker.”

Commenting on the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner, Nisar said his party wanted a commissioner appointed who would ensure transparent elections.
