KARACHI: A fishing boat ‘Al-Imran’ carrying 38 fishermen of Ibrahim Hyderi coastal village capsized due to high tides in open sea last night however a passing boat rescued 16 fishermen while search for other 22 still continues.
The local people in Ibrahim Hyderi told that body of a Bengali fisherman was caught in fishing net and brought to shore.
Soon as the information was received, a large number of people sailed out with boats for search of missing fishermen on self-help basis as by that time no help was offered by Coast Guards or Maritime Security Agency.
Captain of the boat Ahmed and owner Umer told that there were 12 Bengalis among 38 fishermen on board however their names couldn’t be noted as traditionally counting of fishermen is done while sailing out. The boat lost its balance due to high tides and capsized soon after it entered into open sea off Ibrahim Hyderi.
Since many other boats were in the vicinity, they rescued 16 persons and others were swept away by the tides.
